the "performance tune" changes are a secret (but it's mostly timing with a very slight amount of leaning). But you can further alter them after the tune is initially loaded.

I removed a Predator tune last week and ran the car in a solo 2 autox this past weekend.
Two major differences that were readily apparent:
1. The car lost its low end torque, felt like it was starting in second gear until about 3500 rpm and then it ran good. The car is an A4 and I assume that torque managment had a lot to do with the low end performance.
2. Water and transmission temperatures skyrocketed and I could not control them between runs (fans coming on over 220*).
I now have LS1 Edit, reason for putting the stock tune back into the PCM to download into Edit.
Can I now put the Predator tune back into the car and read it with LS1 Edit? If so I will do it find out what the difference is.

I loaded the Predator tune and read it with LS1 Edit.

Differences are minimal - most changes in torque management and transmission calibration.
Fuel was changed in the 'power enrichment vs RPM' table.
Ignition was changed in the 'high octane spark advance' table.
Fan on temp settings were changed.

Default Predator tune differences

Based upon what you saw is it better to use the Predator or to buy something like HP Tuners/LS1 Edit where I think you can make those changes and more???

It would be interesting to know what the changes really are?

Billiardcue,

Would you mind either listing the timing table or send me a copy of the LS1EDIT file? I have edit and I'm trying to play with the timing as I write this. Thanks, Tony

The timing change is simple - in the "high octane spark advance" table Predator adds 5* at all RPMs from 0.6 Gms/Cyl to 1.2 Gms/Cyl
This is the only change I found in the engine calibration file - ignition tab.
The engine calibration file - fuel change is done in the PE (power enrichment) x RPM table is as follows:

RPM vs multiplier
0/400/800 = 1.1134
1200 = 1.1114
1600/2000 = 1.1105
2400 = 1.1124
2800/3200 = 1.1134
3600/4000/4400 = 1.1143
4800 = 1.1163
5200 thru 7200 = 1.1153

Changes made to the torque control - four tables changed and trans calibration has four tables changed.
Fan on temp settings changed.
There is a lot of difference in the performance in my car with the Predator tune. Don't know how much of the difference is attributal to the torque management and how much to fuel and timing changes.
I do know that without the Predator tune and the Nitto 305s the tires way overpower the car.
Need to do back to back drag strip runs with different tune combinations to determine what is doing what. Stock tune - full Predator tune - Predator TM with stock timing and fuel - stock TM with Predator timing and fuel.
