I have an 04 with longtubes no cats, complete exhaust, vararam, 3.42 rear gears. I have the predator for tuning. The car runs very strong.
My timing is 18 degree at idle and about 37 degree when cruising. What should the timing be set at? I am not getting any knock retard but want to be at optimum timing and the adjust my fuel accordingly. Any advice would be appreciated.
What is your timing at WOT? I have a 98 TA and stock it was 28 degrees and after heads/cam it still runs best with the same timing. In fact I lost a couple of hp when I increased to 30 degrees. The later LS1's seem to have less total timing from the factory compared to the earlier years.
A general rule of thumb is you should have slightly negative LTFT's at idle (ideally 0) to help with WOT fuel delivery. I wouldn't mess with the timing at idle (unless you have a aftermarket cam) or cruise timing.
I dont know what my WOT timings is, but above 5k it does not pull that hard. Had a 01 that pulled hard till about 6100. Also it does not have any knock retard. That is what I am trying to figure out. I will moet probably have the car dyno tuned, but what to know the reason or what the timing should be?
