Default 3.73 A4...Any Regrets??

Has anyone regretted putting 3.73 gears in their A4 Corvette? Especially at highway speeds around 70 mph or so.

Not me, I still average well over 20 mpg on long roadtrips and I believe I'm turning around 2300 rpm at 70 mph.

I only recently had mine put in so I havent gotten to play around much yet but so far I have to say I love them. I had the 3.15's before and the difference is like night and day. I dont think highway cruising is going to be an issue. As mentioned above, 70mph is right around 2300rpm, not really a big deal.

Default Great

No big deal unless you have a very loud exhaust then the extra RPM's may be an issue

Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll go with the 3.73 and a torque converter.....

It depends on how picky you are. I would get fed up with 3.73's real quick especially if the car is your only means of transportation.

Just curious... Anyone know the approximate RPM for the 3.42 gears at 70 mph in an A4?

I was reading these old posts, I'm going through the same deal, I did the converter put in a 3200 and ready for gears. What converter do you have?

I love my 3:73's,and yank ss3600. Really woke up my car.. 2300-2400ish rpm at 70mph. I daily drove it for a while with no issues.. It's like everyone says. Do it right the first time... I wouldn't mess with the 3:42's.... IMO

Did the gear swap get rid of the dead spot around 25 to 40 mph? After I did the converter off the line is sweet and highway passing is great but still had a dead spot in between.

If I did more highway driving, I'd be getting more like everyone else that posted but, it's made to go a 1/4 mile and is also very good at melting tires ... if I don't like the mileage, I could drive something else.

the fun factor outweighs the MPG factor!
