Door Hinge Adjustment
I have noticed that the passenger door does not close as nicely as the driver door – seems to take a little more effort to get it closed. Is it safe to assume that the door hinges need adjustment or could it possibly be the glass that needs an adjustment? Took a look at the service manual and it looks like you can adjust the hinges up and down and back and forth. Is it just a trial and error thing or is there a way to tell which way it needs to be adjusted. Since it is really not bad at all, is it worth messing with or is there a good possibility of making it worse. Did a search and could not find anything on this topic.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I had the same problem on my 02 Z06, dealer said they have had a few complaints of same problem. They said they had to trim off some metal on part of the hinge mechanism, was covered under warranty and is now slightly better.

You could make it worst. Make sure the hinge isn't wornout but being the passenger side it probably isn't. New hinges are 50.00 no bushings are available.
Hinges wear out. They should be greased regularly to prevent wear, but it still wears. On some cars, the hinge pin can be changed. I guess they can't be swapped on the C5, but at least the price of the hinges isn't all that bad.
Thanks for the replies. The hinge shouldn't be worn out - the car only has 8,500 miles on it. I will leave it alone unless someone has a straight forward way of fixing it. I don't want to turn a minor annoyance into an all out problem. If it was the driver side door I might be more inclined to do something about it.
