I don't know how much the sending unit is, but I do know that you have to remove the intake manifold. I just had mine replaced under extended warranty.
Mine just went out in the last couple of weeks. I called one of our local dealers out of curiosity and they said close to $400 plus the part (which they didn't have in stock...figures )
I'm going to order the part from Fichtner Chevy, one of our sponsors and my regular place to buy parts tax-free, and do it myself.
Thanks, how hard is it to replace that? and how much does it cost?
I bought one from my friend for 20 dollars and did it myself, it simple to do with those instructions. Takes couple hours your first time.
Cajun99, i think that dealer was trying to give you the shaft. Its a good idea to do it yourself, I guess that dealer charges about 200 dollars an hour.
I see many people posting dealer quotes at 350 to 400 for this fix...
the part is around 38 dollars. The first time I did this fix it took me an hour start to finish, the second one I did for a friend took 45 minutes.. I cant imagine these dealers ripping off so many people on an hour fix... even if the dealer is getting 100 an hour, he is over charging by 400 %. Dealers wonder why they get a bad rap.. freekin thieves.
No wonder so many people are looking at Non GM extended warranties and alternate sources of repair..
