Default Heads, Cam ,Lt headers done!

I just picked up my 2002 A4 vert that Dragon racing here in Denver did a complete head, cam, and lg lt headers job on my car. The car dynoed at 410 rwhp and 412 rwtq. It is a beast to say the least. Things I wanted to point out for those of you thinking of going this way that maybe you did not here about. First the stock headers are thick solid cast steel and the new headers are of a thinner metal so there is a lot more valvetrain noise. Also the idle is very different than stock. This could be because I still have the stock coverter in my car and we had to make it idle at 800. So maybe if I was to change the converter to a higher stall, nothing to radical as I do not want that mushy feeling, like maybe 2600 it would help with the idle. I am looking for recomendations on the converter from all you h/c guys. As far as the power it is insane. It pulls just as hard at 100mph as it does at 10mph. I love the power but just need to work on the idle. The cam specs are as follows: 226,228,575,585,114. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I have the TSP 231/237 on a 112 in my a4. The idle is a little choppy at 925. If you raised your idle a bit it may not lope so much. Anyway congrats on the new power, enjoy!

Good numbers at that altitude. You should run at least a 2800 stall but your cam would like something closer to a 3800 stall. The 2800 will drive good on the street and will help with your idle.

Yep, the valve train is noiser, particularly at a cold start.

Thats a first!!

With almost any cam change, you will need to increase the rpms, you will have to live with it. Mine idles at 875 out of gear and 825 in gear.

Choppy idle? Hey they must of pulled out that OEM paper roll out, and put in a real cam. Choppy idle is how you know that you got your moneys worth. Now the car runs better huh.
