Installed my rebuilt 6-speed tranny last night everything went smoothly until I went to back out the garage, no R . So I pushed the car out the garage and went for a drive. Jumping out of second and the shifter had tons of play while in gear. The shifter was in gear and you could move it around like it was in neutral.
Now I haven't called the builder yet, I wanted to make sure that I install everything correctly?? Can you install the shifter wrong?? I did not have any left over hardware and its not the first time to install the tranny, rear-end and torque tube.
Yikes, there should not be that much play. I wonder if the Torx screw that connects the shifter to the shift rod was torqued down properly. You should be able to check that by pulling the center console and having a peak under the shifter. Thats the only thing I can think of.
