The driver's door lock does not work with key fob (2000 convertible). When I hit the lock on the fob, the horn honks like the lock is set but it isn't. Auto lock on door does not set the lock either. Manual lock works fine. Very annoying when I forget to hit the unlock on the fob and open the door and then the horn starts honking. Any instructions you can list here to repair/replace the electric lock would be appreciated. Is this an easy fix or something I should leave to the dealership? Any help with access to parts or "tips for fixing" would be terrific.
I'm giving you a bump and hope one of the electrical experts will see it this go around.
From what I've read it could be the wiring (loose connection) that runs between the door and the body.
The other thing is the (LDCM) left door control module.
Just had the same problem on son's 99. We ended up buying a used door control module from Gene's car shop at karshop@tampabay.rr.com They do go bad. second in his car. About $200 for new one.
We thought it was the door lock it'self from testing, but after we had bought a new one, found that wasn't cure.
Very easy to replace; just have to remove the door panel.
