CV issue? Have picks, what is going on? HELP!

CV issue? Have picks, what is going on? HELP!
I was pulling the brakes off and saw this;
This is on the drivers side.
This is a thick green grease. I did have a harden output shaft put in about 6 months ago, and I have only about 1800 miles sence.
Car is about three months out of warrenty.
What do you think is going on?

To put the boot kit in, must the transaxle be dropped?

Yep, diff is OK. You will have to pull that side out however to swap the boots. We do so by pulling the upper ball joint, popping the Half shaft out of the diff, then removing the nut on the out side of the shaft and poping that end out.
