Top Speed of an A4 with 2.73's is 182mph. This info was previously posted on GM's website. Can you hit 182mph with a stock A4? Yes. I remember a dyno day we had last year. My stock A4 was the only car above 180mph.

You don't have to over come drag running on a dyno. Running 180+ with a bone stock C5 with 2.73s out on the road would be much more difficult.
Many thanks to those who finally helped me with my question ....I had guessed my car would end up at redline in the mid 160's....so it sounds like I wasn't too far off.

on the street, or on the dyno ?
if on the dyno, then that doesn't represent real life useage on the street (where air resistance is your enemy on a top end run).

Mike, both. As we all know coupes are more aerodynamic than FRC's therefore both manual and automatic equipted C5 coupes have a top speed higher than a Z06. C5's are only top speed drag limited in overdrive. 182mph is a Chevrolet documented top speed for an A4 C5.

Do you remember where it was documented? Everything I have read in the past says 172. Most of us know we're limited by 'drag'. Thanks.
I have 3.15, wish I had 3.42 for a tad more skat. Unless on a road racing course, or perhaps drag strip, anything above 120 MPH is kind of useless to me ...I would gladly trade some top MPH for more torque at the wheels under 80 MPH where it gets actually driven every day. What other ratios are available in the the 3.8 or 4.1 range???? After I finish the mods I have in line to do, a shorter rear ratio would be frosting on the cake.
Busa, I have a 3.42 rear, with stock motor, A&A Procharger kit. I did a top end run a couple of months ago. I was only able to get to 155 mph when I hit the rev limiter in overdrive. There's real world data for you, not theory.

Easiest way is to look at the sticker in the Glove Box....Providing the Rear end has not been changed........
G92=3.15
GU2=2.73
Hope this helps !!!!!!!!
