anyone heard of over time with rain and heat of the canvas convertible top shrinking? was told by the dealer that is possible and does happen. been to 2 different dealers, all weatherstripping and seals redone-twice and still leaks. talked to other members and most say no leaks, or very minute. about ready to pull the trigger on a new top from a shop in phoenix, most dealers use them and claims to be the best. brand new top 5yr warranty out the door $1,260. If the car will leak no matter what, then i will accept that and buy one of those smoothline tops, for rainy, monsoon season here, and be done with it, most leaking occurs when parked for an extended period of time in the rain, does not even have to be raining hard. driving in the rain is o.k, but this car is a daily driver so it has to be fixed, supposed to take the car in thurs a.m to do it, said they are gonna look at it first and see maybe fixed another way, they specialize in convertible tops. so unless i can get a deal on a smoothline top before that, it's probably gonna happen. 98 vert don't know if this is the original top, does look pretty clean though
can you find exactly where its leaking from? there are specific instructions for adjusting certain areas.
don
on the passenger side that first piece of weatherstripping towards the front of the glass, where the top folds up, drivers side same thing, just soaks the bolsters on each side and sill area.
Have you tried adjusting the windows to seal tighter against the weather strips. This is where most tops leak. Give me a call if you want to try this. I have sealed a lot of tops this way, both targa's and convertable's. A lot cheaper than a new top.

I have an 03 that needed an adjustment when it was brand new. The dealer sent me to a guy who specializes in verts. He told me that the top should be looked at and tweaked every few years because of variations in the fabric over time. I would try to find someone good to adjust if first before you spend big bucks on a new top.
