I have been viewing and gathering info from this site for about a week, what a great sight!
My question; I have installed Z06 sway bars and have experienced the dreaded "thunk". I retorqued all the appropriate nuts and bolts and used Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease I trust this will make the noise disappear. I also noticed the clearence from my sway bar to my lower control arm is less than 1/4" is this correct?
Here's something to try. When you installed your swaybar, was your suspension loaded or fully extended? If you bolted down your bushed mounts with the suspension fully extended then took your car off of the jacks with your wheels now on the ground and full vehicle weight on the susp. the bushings are experiencing the torque of the suspension travel from mounting in the extended position and could be the cause of clunking over bumps. I've had this happen on other vehicles to me. Try loosening the bushed mounts with the tires on the ground then re torqueing and see if the problem persists.
Thanks for the reply, the front wheels were on ramps. I believe that to be loaded. What is the standard clearence for a ZO6 swaybar to the lower control arm? Is this typical?
If you are talking about the front swaybar, yes, it is a very tight clearance as you describe.
The z06 bars are a great mod. Although I have not had a problem, every post I have read here found the "thunk" to be created by a loose bolt, usually in the stern swaybar. Was the rear on the ground when you put that one on? I found the front hard to properly torque without the use of a crow's foot. Maybe recheck your torque on that one.

Since installing the Z bars, I notice slight clunking while driving down my 1/2 mile dirt driveway. No problems whatsoever on pavement. I don't know what that means, however.
Thanks for the help guys. 60° and sunny today. Took it out for a test drive. It is fixed. I used some instructions from a friend that stated to use "dielectric grease" on the bushings. WRONG.
The Mobil I synthetic grease solved my problem.
