Default Coolant sensor question

There is a sensor under the coolant reservoir, near the frame. I went to pull the connector to it, and the whole thing popped out. Looks like the coolant level sensor. It had an o-ring which was snapped. The sensor itself looks OK. Is there anything besides the O-Ring that holds it in there? Seems kind of odd.

I believe that you are talking about the outside temperature sensor. The coolant sensor is on the drivers side of the engine block just ahead of the exhaust manifold and is screwed into the block.

I don't think it's a temperature sensor at all. It looks like it measures coolant level. it goes into the coolant reservoir tank from the bottom (if u take it out with coolant in the tank, you'll have a mess).
