Mods -
Free (or nearly free mods) - the "how to do it" can be found by searching the forum.
Lower it (then drive it while and get a 4 wheel alignment)
Shorten your Shifter
Paint your calipers
Check the C5 Parts for Sale threads.. every day there are new and barely used mods for sale or trade.
Cat back Exhaust if you want a diff. sound (gotta do headers and pipes if you want real HP gain)
Replacing bulbs around the car with LEDs seems to be a recent popular topic.
Lloyds floor and cargo mats
Vette Essentials leather shift boots and center arm rest pads.. (and seats too)
Drilled and Slotted (zinc coated) rotors
new air intake
Vararam air intake, cat back exhaust and a Predator tune. These mod have cost me $1055. and I think I've gained about 40 hp. Oh, I almost forgot, tinted windows- $120.

possible new battery
column lock bypass kit
blackwing
LS6 intake
corsa indy with x-pipe
F1GSD3 tires
delco drilled & slotted rotors
On an M6 do 3.90 or 4.10 gears
On an A4 do a T/C and 3.42 or 3.73 gears.
Engine Mods
Cold Air Intake & LT headers.
Performance 'for the money' - rear gears have a huge SOTP impact. Cost around $1200 parts, about $500 labor - but you can **** that much away in bogus performance upgrades that don't make as much impact. Much of those upgrades are better when you've already done big horsepower mods (but make sense if those are in your future). Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
If you have the base suspension, consider the Z06 anti-sway bars. For about $230 from one of our supporting vendors, you'll get a vast handling improvement.
It really depends on what you're looking for. Exhaust/headers with a cold air induction system will give you a good start. Check out Breathless cold air system and their step headers. I've installed them on both of my vettes and have been very happy so far. Then you can decide if you want to add a cam with a good dyno tune. These mods will get you started.
