I JUST HAD A 2003 A4 BUILT FOR MY 98 C5. I PUT A BILLIT SERVO, LARGER BOOST VALVE, SHIFT KIT, AND VIGILANTE CONVERTER. I JUST INSTALLED AND OVERCAME THE 1870 ERROR CODE. THE TRANS SHIFTS FINE AND DOES NOTHING FUNNY OTHER THAN SHIFTING A LITTLE TOO HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND-BUT IT HAS BEEN LEAKING FLUID OUT OF THE OVERFLOW HOSE AND LEAKING ONTO THE SUSPENSION......
DID I JUST OVERFILL THE TRANNY OR IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE I NEED TO LOOK AT LIKE MAYBE LOWERING THE LINE PRESSURE...WHEN I SENT THE PCM OUT FOR UPDATE TO GET RID OF THE 1870 THEY BUMPED THE LINE PRESSURE 10%.........ANY THOUGHTS
Yes The Tc Is Working/locking Correctly. I Had The 1870 Error Due To The 342 Diff Change And The 3000 Vigilante Converter....everything Seems To Be Operating Ok Except For The Fluid Draining From The Overflow Tube That Plugs In On The Top Of The Tranny...any Thoughts
There is a white plastic tee spliced into the middle of this drain line on top of the transmission.... what should this plug into? Sorry for the interuption.
It sounds like your tranny may be overserviced you need to check the level.
1. raise the car off the ground high enough to be able to lay under it and get to the plug on the side of the tranny pan, the car must be level!!!
2. start the engine and let it idle until your transmission temp is between 86 -122 degrees, once there press the brake pedal and move the shifter through the gear ranges pausing for a second at each detent.
3. with the engine running at idle remove the plug on the side of the transmission pan, fluid should be level with the bottom of the threaded plug hole.
So if fluid comes out then you were overserviced and need to let it completely drain.

TO MAKE SURE I HAVE YOU CORRECT. LET TEH TRANNY COMPLETELY DRAIN FROM THE FILLER PLUG...OR ARE YOU SAYING THE PAN PLUG AND FILL AGAIN...I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR 2 TIMES THE 1ST TIME A GOOD DEAL OF FLUID CAME OUT. THE SECOND THERE WAS ENOUGH TO WET THE LEAF SPRING IN THE HOSE AREA.
ANY RISK IF IT CONTINUES TO DRAIN FROM HOSE VERSUS PLUG.....THANKS FOR THE HELP....KEVIN

Yes, let it completely drain. that is with the transmission up to operating temperature and still running.
