i noticed today that when i cut the wheel all the way and do about a 180 degree turn, i sometimes hear and feel a thump comming from the front, i thought i had just been running over something in the process of the turn, but it seems to be happening without there being anything to run over. Is this cause for concern?
anyone else here know of this issue?
i get that @ times also...i think someone posted a few weeks ago that it may be due to the runflats...i'm not sure but i've actually gotten out of the car a few times to see if i hit something...i dont know what all the demographics behind the situation are...someone who knows for sure will respond...i've also had this experience coupled with the sensation that i've run over some hard plastic...like a child's toy or something...i've actually heard what i thought was that sound but get out of the car to find nothing...

Almost any car, if you turn the wheel all the way to one side or the other, will have the tires skip a bit due to the geometry of the steering and suspension. That could be what you are hearing, but usually you can also feel it when the tires let go. In a '97, it could be something more serious, though...

This can even be worse if you are backing up if you still using gm alignment specs.
we align c4's & c5's very differently then gm. depending on drivers habits tires last 35k to 40k miles.
