The Benz is FAST car, but it big and heavy.... And probably does not transfer power through the chassi as well as a vet will. I Would think with 405 on the reat wheel you should have him with no probs.
I have seen some modded AMG 55's..they can be over 600 RWHP...
I ran at the Track with a guy in a E 55...Thats a 4 door sedan....it ws brand new, and bone stock...he ran 12.4's..not too shabby for a big heavy car.
A buddy of mine with 400rwhp FRC beat a E55 on a freeway run. He has a six speed. We definitely have a weight advantage over this tuna boat, but they are very fast. If the guy is stock, I would say you have a good chance of taking him. Good luck!
To me the small SL55 looks way smaller and sportier than the other 55 series MB's. I would think that the SL55 V8 Kompressor AMG would be faster than the other, heavier versions?

The SL55 looks small, but still weighs in at around 4200 pounds, thats about 900-1000 pounds more than the average Vette. The SL actually weighs more than the E55 which is the lightest S/C model and also weighs about the same as the S55. If I remember correctly, you need 10 horsepower for every 100 pounds, so to evenly match you, he would need 90-100 more RWHP than you. I say you would kill him. Just my opinion.
The only stock M-B that could have its way with a well driven 400 RWHP 'Vette is the 600SL V12. That thing has around 600 HP at the flywheel, twin turbos, and a very sophisticated traction control system. I know because I ran one and I have 528 RWHP. After a lot of wheelspin and wasted motion, I passed him at around 80, but it wasn't looking good for the home team up to that point.

You may be right but I would have needed plenty of real estate to establish any dominance.
