...my AC lights started burning out one by one, in the past few days it went almost totally dark. So I decided to fix the thing. Total cost, $10 or so, 2 hours of time. First step remove the unit from the dash. 2nd step, open up the unit, desolder the 12 bulbs and resolder new bulbs in. I used Radio Shack part 272-1092 bulbs. They are smaller then the original ones but seem to be the same brightness. They are rated at 10,000 hours so they should hopefully last the life of the car.
I know some people would prefer just to swap it out, but if so theres a good chance it will happen again since the bulbs inside are pieces of crap. Woo hoo!
No this is referring only to the back lights when the parking lights/headlights are on at night time. Mine progressively died until I couldnt see ANYTHING anymore at night.
How can you fix the main display lights. Mine is so dim I can hardly see it in the daylight.
Thanks
Dan
I know you mean on this- that display is actually not at full brightness whe the parking/head lights are off. Sort of like the MPH (or KPH) dial in the speedo. It only is at full brightness when the headlights are on. Maybe there is a way to rewire this?
