1. On a 427 N.A. motor, I picked up approximately 25 RWHP vs the regular intake they were using.
2. On a 427 TT motor, I picked up approx 40 RWHP vs the standard intake LPE uses.
They've told me the bigger the motor, the more gains you can typically expect to see. On the other end of the spectrum, a FAST 90 doesn't seem to produce material HP gains on a stock motor.
I can't say anything about actual HP gains as I didn't dyno beforehand. I would guess 15 - 20 hp max.
I used Nick Williams' 90 mm TB, with the 90mm LSX and the change in driveability due to increased part throttle response was huge. Definitely worth it!
See sig. for mods.
What else are you doing to the car? Is it still bolt-ons or are you doing additional work?
I've got a LSx/90mm combo on my car, but I never dynoed it before I added them. I'm guessing 15-20rwhp.
I don't know if you've talked to Phil about it, but I was under the impression he thought the LS2 intake would provide a more liveable setup with only moderate work to retrofit it to an LS1...
The stock rail covers will fit perfectly................. after your custom grind is complete.
I just finished cutting mine with a dremil tool. I put the covers in place as close as I could and used chalk to scribe where the grinding was needed. It took me approx 20 close fits and scribing before they would secure completely in place. Try not to slip and grind the top of the covers, that was the only pitfall.
I picked up 20 hp with the 90mm setup and then 25 hp upgrading my heads from 2.0 to 2.5 comp. level. I was not happy with the gains before these changes and was really surprised at the sudden bump. It seems what everyone says about the whole package making a difference showed up with my car.
If you are going to get a FAST - go with the 90TB from Nick Williams (LG Motorsports sells them)....You will pick up 10RWHP for a cam only car plus 5-10TQ everywhere....20+ for heads and cam.
The 90 drives fine with the NW TB and good tuning.
BLACKTOP2000 had a stock LS6 manifold and unported 75mm tb and made 415rwhp from his current h/c setup. He recently put an LSX 90mm manifold and an LS2 tb on. We will be going to the dyno in a few weeks. We just have to zero in on the part throttle tuning. Drivability with this combo is amazing. Drives and idles just like stock... well maybe just a tiny bit of lope. SOTP says 15-20rwhp. I wish it would stop snowing so we can do some more logging. Will post the results when we have them.
The FAST 90 set-up will make the most power, the most torque, and carry the big numbers past peak HP better than any other intake/TB set-up on the market currently....It's no surprise that set-up is whats currently installed on my car. Hopefully even better stuff finds its way down the new product pipeline, but for now, the FAST is the least restrictive and puts down the strongest numbers...especially from 4500 to redline.
