Default Gears question...

First, forgive my ignorance on this....but I have been scanning the forum here and see that changing the gears helps to increase power (correct?) By changing gears, is that the same as changing the trans shifting speed?

I have an AT and only mods are exhaust and K&N intake...what gear change is recommended?...and what is cost (w/labor)?

Also, with my above mods, should I get the upgraded Intake Manifold next? I have been quoted about $600 for cost and install and want to know if this is a good next Mod updgrade.
Thanks.

Gears wont add power, they will mutiply the TQ the engine is already producing, and get the engine into it's powerband faster. In general, 3.42's are the normal upgrade for A4 cars. Which intake are you asking about. FAST, LS6?

I would stay with that untill you get to an aggressive head and cam package. Which gears do you have now?

It's not worth the money to swap, yet.

Gear swaps are key with these cars (especially A4's) I just spoke with Phil at Dynotech the other day & he reccomends 3.73 or 3.90 gear & a higher stall convertor. These 2 items are first on my mod list oh, headers & catback too
