I'm going to go to the track tomorrow, weather permitting, and will be using ET Street for the first time. How big of a burn do you need on these? Should I dip into the water box? I'm also driving them to the track if no rain is present. 25 psi on the road and 12 psi at the track sound good? Thanks!

MN6. Just started building but started from ground up. Stock time was 12.93. Just finished building rear end with all of the DTE stuff. Going to track tomorrow to get new times. No other mods besides that. VaraRam goes in next week. Go to the track next Friday get those times. Exhaust after that, go to track, heads/cam after that, I think you get the picture by now
I used to air up 28 psi for the highway drive to the track. Air down to 13psi, dip them in the water about 1/4 turn and I would pull out of the water and then start the burnout. Don't soak the tires, when you start the burnout, it kicks water in the wheelwells and it will drip off on the tires when you stage. I would do a 4-8 second burnout. You want to release the linelock when you get thick deep smoke off the tires. No dry hop. Just stage and go.
Check your air pressure between rounds, it will go up after a pass because of heat. I also found 11-12 psi gave me the best traction. That may change through out the day.
If its your first time on ETs and your running a radial tire up front
I would start at 20psi and get a feel..
They will move the car around quite a bit as the pressure is dropped. Its something you may want to ease youself into
Thanks for the replies. I've decided just to put one in the hatch wrapped up and one on the pass seat wrapped up and change 'em at the track. I keep thinking about when my buddy did a few 360s at 70 mph for hitting a puddle when he had his on.
Yes, I've got my best times in the right lane at HRP as well.

Phli
start high. a little tirespin will save parts. a hard dead hook or wheelhop is what breaks things.
roll thru the water box about 1/2 car away and do the burnout.spin em till you see some smoke.12-16 psi start high and keep dropping psi till you get best 60ft's and top end stability.I highly recommend a line lock as you wont beat on the car as much.
I think I'm coming down there tonight, Cajundude. Look for the blue Z06 with CCW et streets/skinnies and you've probably found me. We usually park towards the back of the pits.
As far as psi, I ran about 16 pounds and cut a 1.51 short time three weeks ago, so thats a good starting point. HRP "usually" is prepped better than most tracks, so I agree with comments on start high psi and work your way down if needed. Slight spin is much better than a dead hook.
