Nvd97C5,
Yes, but you would have the same air tube problem and maybe a dipstick relocation.
zowhat,
You're probably talking LT's here, but take a look at the passenger side manifold in the picture. The air port is to the rear. On a 2000 that port is over the #6 exhaust port. The tube itself is aluminium so it can be cut and extended with vinal tubing but you would haver to be real careful. Nice shortys huh? - C.

can I do anything to modify the headers to make it work? I see a lot of guys selling their headers for 01 and up for great prices and this is the only reason I ask. Thanks Marc
Marc,
Sure. I would guess we're talking LT's right? The best way to do it is to buy the 2001 air tube and dipstick assembly from Ken Fitchner. Then it would take some time and work to pull the intake manifold to bolt the new pipe on. If you don't have an LS6 manifold, now would be the time to get one. You might as well change the plugs and anything else that is worn because you'll have to remove a lot of stuff. The dip stick is plug and play too. Please keep in mind though, LT's will require welding in most cases. So if you're not prepared to do that part, you might as well let the shop do the whole thing. $$$ I went the shorty route because my car is not that modified and I wouldn't get all the LT's potential HP. Besides, when I'm running at 150 for 20 minutes at a clip at Big Bend, I don't want the LT hotfoot. Hope this helped. - C.
thanks a lot. this helps a bunch. How much of a tone(load) and HP difference would LT's and shorty's would be? I'm getting mixed advise from other forum members. I will be changing my intake manifold to the Holley intake but will keep the stock TB. and my go with no Cats but not sure yet. I have a Borlas rear section with the full mufflers on right now.
You never really know until you do it but, with your mods ( I read your other thread) you should see some substantial gains with LT's. Shorty's wouldn't do much for you. Either way the exhaust would be louder especially without the cats. - C.
