I was replacing my headlight bulbs and had trouble getting one of them out (passenger low beam). When I put the new bulb in I could not get it to lock into place. I notice the metal piece which the bulb goes into had some of the tabs bent so the light bulb won't lock into place and is loose. It looks like this piece bolts on to the back of the headlight assembly.
Doesn't look like there is any way to fix it short of getting a new part. My question is can I just replace this metal piece or do I have to get a whole new headlight assembly?
Take the whole assembly out..its easy..remove the bezel...then there are 5-6 bolts and 2 plugs holding it in..10 and 13MM...once out you can fix the bent tab..be careful its easy to break...insert bulb and reinstall.....BTDT..
I looked at it again and it looks like it can't be fixed by bending the tabs back. The Chevy dealer said this part is not serviced meaning it is not sold separately from the headlight. The piece can be unscrewed from the back of the headlight so I don't see why it isn't sold separately.
Any ideas on how to get this part since I don't want to buy a new headlight assembly for a part that is only a few dollars.
