Default loud exhaust noise

I bought a set of used stock exhaust off e-bay - they came of a 2001 convertible; I had them installed them on my 99 coupe - and they sound terribly loud

Today I'm going back to the exhaust shop that installed them and ask for their thoughts.

What would be most probable - the exhaust that I bought being defective; or the workmanship in installing them? Any way to distinguish the two?

best wishes, any help would be much appreciated.

What did you buy? A 2 tip straight system, would be loud etc, ....dont think the shop could mess the install up, usually only over axle pipes then muffler hookup....

What exhaust did you replace? If it was stock, why did you buy another one? Are you sure you bought a stock exhuast? Did you replace the cat back section or the full exhaust? Do you have headers? Need more info to make any sensible suggestions.

Default fixed!

Took it back to the installer. They put it on a lift and the problem was quite evident - on the left cat back exhaust, the gasket was placed severely lopsided. It pretty much needed to be replaced.

Got the stock cat-back exhaust from e-bay from a car with 10k miles on it. Got it for $100 shipping included. I used it to replace my stock exhaust; 48k miles on a 99 coupe (did not include satin tips).

Car looks and sounds better now
