I am rebuilding the front end on my 81 Z-28. I have been told that unless I plan on doing alot of road & drag racing, to go with rubber because the poly squeeks alot. I plan on doing weekend cruises & shows. Who has used what, & your advise. thanks
First thing, you're in the Corvette section. As for your question, if you're just doing shows and cruises, who cares? If it was your daily driver, or a race car, then it might matter.
Depends on what's available. I've used several different polies (some plain, others graphite impregnated), custom-machined delrin, and steel. If made so they can be greased all will work without squeaks. I've never had graphite impreg squeak, either. Anything is better than the stock/old rubber stuff, as far as performance--competition or daily driver.
Having driven a bunch of stuff with poly bushings I can tell you that driving the River Road will make you feel like you are in a blender.
NEW rubber on an older car will make a nice difference for you I think.

I've used polyurethane on my street car and couldn't be happier. In the C3 suspension it really tightens things up in spite of the worm & sector steering box. It's no replacement for rack & pinion, but they're a whole lot easier to install. If you assemble them as instructed I don't think you'll have any squeaking problems. I haven't and it's been 13 years!
Check with VB&P, they handle the early Camaros too...
