you guys are really making me want one now.i will get some r/r quotes tomorrow and see what that will run me.
sadly im working in the nicest shop ive ever worked in but they dont allow any after hrs shop work.

another question:on this "the ss3600 will have a 600 rpm longer shift extention also this will give you LOTS of mid to top end pull"

im already bumping the rev limiter on the 2/3 shift so if the above is true im going to have to install a reprogrammed chip in order to use one of these convertors right?
mines a 92 w 373 gears. man,ss3600,chip,roller rockers,sticky tires...
bet she'd run with the big dogs till the d36 scattered lol

You will need to comand your shift points a little sooner so that you stay off the limiter. The SS3600 will only make your problem worse if you are currently hitting the limiter.

Thanks

I was planning on a buying a vigilante. Just one of those things. There torqe multiplication is 2.5.

Can you give any reasons why the yank is somewhat better or about the same...... just getting a special price.
I am very interested.
Thanks
Dennis

Dennis, I personally think that the Yank converters are a much higher quality converter than the vigilante's. We used to use both makes of converters and due to the lack of quality with the Vig's, we have now made Yank are only choice for the street/strip cars. The vig's were having a problem locking up and then if they did lock up they would go in and out of lock up at low speeds and jerk the cars around. That was no good and it happened quite a few times to use and our customers. With the Yanks we have NEVER had a problem. If you get a Yank you will be happy with it.

Thanks

Plenty of people have had issues with Yank converters unlocking etc. Its no different than the Vigi's in that respect. Tuning resolves the issue with both converters. The simple answer is it has less rotating mass than stock (vigi are lighter) and is picked up by the crank sensor as cylinder missfire and unlocks the converter. Simple tuning solves the issue.

Phil, we are talking about two seperate problems. The problems we were having with the vig's were internal issues in the converter, simple tuning would not fix them. As far as the Yanks we have yet to have a unlocking issue or any issues that I can think of. Thanks for your input though.
