Default Check Engine lite...how do I find out meaning?

I just had my car tuned a day ago. The next day, after some freeway driving, the check engine light comes on. Won't go away if I turn off the motor. Oil pressure and temp look fine, so I am thinking it has something to do with the tune. The car is a new '04 with about 5k miles on it.

I thought I read somewhere I could retrive the codes by pressing a sequence of buttons where the guages/trip buttons are.

I wouldn't be freaked out, because the car is new. However, I had headers, intake and heads installed, so the thought of taking it to the dealership and having them turn me away because of warranty void makes me ill.

I am hoping this can be dealt with via the computer.

Thanks in advance for any help on getting the problem code, and figuring out what it may be. Should I NOT be driving the car? Is there possibility of doing damage?

greg

p.s. the tuner doesn't work on the weekends, so I have to stare at this light until Monday.

The best info I've seen on the net to get at the DTC codes is here

If I were you, I'd write down all of the codes you currently have (just for future reference if you need them), then reset/erase ALL of them. After the codes have all been erased go for a drive, 20 minutes should be more than enough. When you get home leave the engine running and check for codes again. If none came back, great, if you get some again then look them up to see what the problem might be. If you can't fix it yourself ask on the forum or take it to get fixed.

This is excellent. Thank you much. I'll be trying it out soon!
