Default Hypertech 160 or 178 degree T-Stat?

I am going to install a few performance enhancements on my 98 LS1, including the Hypertech Program. What is the best T-Stat to use, 160 or 180 degrees?

In Florida I run a 160 with lowered fan temps. Car stays around 180.

The thermostat only controls when the water reaches the set temp. to
open. It does not control the max temp. it will run. The fans temp
setting controls that temp. Factory fan settings are pretty high,
I do not remember exactly but I think around 225-230. There are
various way to change this. From a fan controller that mounts in
the engine bay, to reprogram of the computer. I have mine programmed
at 190 and this works very well. The low temp therm. is good that
the water get to 180 opens then the fans will keep it at 190 or what
ever you have programmed it. I like the 178-180 range. My personal
opinion is 160 is too cool, and if you live in a cold climate really
not the way to go.
