I am going to install an aftermarket exhaust and I was wondering if I could get some opinoins on what is best for me. I want a great sound but not overbearing,I have heard sound clips on different brands and so far I like a corsa pace car edition,They all seem to be in the same price range . give or take a hundred, I just want to know that its there and sounds like it,but I dont want the ole lady to be scared to ride with me. Thanks I have a 97 C5.
From what I know, I'm going with GHL too, but that's immaterial. The sound that YOU like is what's important. That's why they make so many different brands. I'd strongly advise you to go to a club or somewhere there are a lot of vettes and listen to each one. The clips are very deceptive.
Also, be very careful about droning. Most brands need an "X" pipe, which costs about $250 all by itself, to avoid droning in the cockpit.
GHL bullets sound great at idle and WOT and they are not obnoxious at crusing speed. I paid $845. delivered. Call and talk to Brian at GHL motorsports.
Corsa Indies, Guaranteed for life, and they mean it... best customer support in the business,.,,I've had my Corsa Indies for Five years, they owe me nothing... I could buy anything I wanted that I thought was better, but there just isn't anything that meets my particular needs or my ear. After five years, I am still excited about the way my car sounds. I love cruising with them...absolutely no harsh or unwanted sounds... Just an exciting exhaust system. You can't get nicer tips than Corsa Pro tips.
Don't mean to hi-jack the thread...but did you guys use an X-Pipe with your Bullets??
Nope; figured it just get replaced when headers/hi-flo cats/x-pipe combo went on, would live with any downside in interim but i really haven't found any for me.
Another vote for GHL bullets here. I chose them for a variety of reasons though.
1) Full 304 stainless steel 3" exhaust TIG welded. Very high quality. I'm familiar enough with welding (my offroad rigs ) to know what good welds look like. They were beautiful. Significantly better than my FLP headers even which was somewhat dissapointing.
2) Mandrel bent (most Corvette exhausts, if not all are though)
3) Company/customer service was excellent and a pleasure to deal with. Very cool/knowledgable guys. True car enthusiasts.
4) The sound. It kind of sounds more like a mean race car than straight old school muscle sound.. but more of a mix between race/old muscle. I love it. I used to have flowmasters w/ hi-flow cats/headers on my Jeep 5.9L and it was real mean sounding.. this is even better.
5) High performance. TRUE 3" exhaust with high flow mufflers. I am in the process of having my 447CID high-flow NA engine built so I needed the best flow possible (kooks 1 7/8" headers coming soon to replace the FLP). Some of the big tuners use this exhaust and speak many good things about them and now that I own a set I see why.
