I know that DTE makes a brace and another company offers one as well but can't remember the name or find a link.... thinking of going to 4.10s... and wanted some insurance. Do you have to drop the rearend to install the braces? Any comments on the DTE or other brace?
I was fortunate to be one of the first 10 C5 owners to install one. No, you don't have to drop the trans or diff to install it. You will have to remove the X-pipe though.
I have a DTE stage 2 differential with 3.90 gears and a DTE strut brace waiting to be installed. They will go on the car next week along with a new clutch, a DTE pinion support, a Hurst shifter, and a raptor shift light. I can give you a little more feedback after everything is installed.

DTE's Differential Strut works.

Well I'll Be , the drive train can remain in place.
The DTE Differential Strut is designed to be a true bolt-on drivetrain upgrade for any year C5 Corvette with a manual transmission and does not require modification to the vehicle of any kind to install. Each kit comes complete painted red or black for corrosion resistance and includes all the necessary brackets, fasteners, hardware and detailed photo enhanced instructions required for a hassle free installation. The entire kit is easily installed or removed while the driveline is in the car and is designed to be a true, bolt-on installation kit that can be installed in two hours or less using regular, commonly found hand tools. Finally, there is no driveline vibration/noise resonated into the passenger compartment/cabin and interior sound levels are unaffected from O.E.M.

RPM - Real Performance Motorsports
Most people do a brace at the same time as a gear swap, so the brace is added while everything's apart. The RPM unit is also several pounds lighter than the DTE. I have had the prototype RPM unit on my car for quite a while now (about a year before DTE's unit even came out) and have several hundred passes on sticky tires. The thing works.

Just a note -- on the MN6 version you can get away without removing a lot of pieces, but from what I gather on the A4 version you do have to drop the subframe.
