Does anyone know if I can install my headers from underneath if I have a lift? Or do I still need to disassemble all that stuff on the top end? Thanks.
John
I haven't installed LG headers but on my FLP's the passenger side header will not go in from the bottom no matter what you do and if you spend the extra time to remove a few piddly items you'll save yourself alot of grief and frustration in the end.

I found the same with my Dynatech headers. They didn't even look like they would go in from the bottom on the passenger side. I tried anyway, and they didn't even come close to going in!
left side goes in through the bottom.right side from the top.i removed the coils, valve cover and battery.i left the starter in.slides right in from the top.the only modification of the directions i did was bolt the headers to the head first then slid the x pipe on.i didn't like the idea of pulling the header up against the head with the x pipe putting tension on it.

The link below will help a lot. I installed mine using jackstands. Drivers side from the bottom and passenger side from the top. http://ls1howto.com/
driver side is from the bottom you might need to loosen the motor mount. Passenger side from top you might want to pull the plugs it makes it easier to get gaskets in and align, ALso keeps you from damaging spark plugs. Good luck
I didnt have a lift, only one jack and a jack stand. Had to go from the top on both sides. The drivers side goes in from the top, if you unhook the steering shaft and take off the valve covers, fairly easy. I didnt have any room under the car to twist and turn so I had too.
I put both sides in from the top. Alternator is already out of the way, only other thing I moved was the steering shaft. I did not have enough height to go in from below. It was pretty easy I have to say, remove the bolt from the front of the steering shaft and swing it out towards the wheel well.
I guess it works different ways. I had a lift and installed both sides from the bottom. The stock header (if you want to call it that) had to come out through the top though. People talk about having to jack up the motor if you go from the bottom, but I had a friend use the crow bar against the block, lightly push it a coule times and it just wiggled its way in. No harm, no foul...
However, the hard part is getting a tight seal on the cats/xpipe with those POS clamps. I ended up having to use U clamps to keep them from moving around. Good luck!

DONT even think about trying to tighten headers after x pipe installed.Always tighten header bolts to heads first. above quote all correct, although I find it much easier to remove starter bolts and move slightly to allow clearance for header. just remember to re install bolts BEFORE header is completely bolted to head. also on the note of the clamps not tight on the cats, are you using the radix type? if so if you have access to a cut off wheel, cut four slits at the inlet of both cats approx 1.5 inches, this will allow the clamps to tighten around cats. Try installing kooks 1 7/8 headers..arrrgh.
