Sportsdude,
I did this mod last winter with the help of Markcz. He has (had?) a post in tech tips for fogs or lowbeams with brights. He also sent me a schematic diagram on how to get fogs (actually PIAA1100x's) AND lowbeams to work with brights. If you're interested, PM me your address and I'll send you copies of what I have.

Dan

Her is how to do it on a Silverado Headlight Mod Thre is a picture/schematic in the first post.

It does use a diode. The diodes are about 80 cents for 2 at Radio Shack.

You need the 9005's, they are the more powerfull ones (high beams) put them in the low beam sockets after you modify them by removing the 2 "ribs" inside the bulbs, they WILL fit in the LB wire sockets after you do the modification. Then file down the tang on the bulb ,as shown in a few sites posted here.Just compare them to your 9006's & file them accordingly.I think someone here said the 9005's have one "rib" inside, incorrect ,they have 2 & must wind up with none for this mod. Then they should then fit snuggly in the low beam lens socket part.

Personally I would not use a "standard" 9005's but something on the lines of a Silverstar or equivilants mentioned.

I guess I mis-stated. I always get the two #'s mixed up. I was trying to put the high beam bulbs in the low beam socket after altering the ribs and the tab. It fit, but it was loose. One of the above articles I posted suggested the larger o-ring.
