What should batt volts read before start

What should batt volts read before start

Should it be 12 or more? If Im at 11.5 do I think about a new battery?

Yes if its under 12 volts you have a bad battery. A 6 cell battery should have A min. of 2.2 volts per cell.

I would guess you have no problem. If you are reading the voltage from the DIC, I don't think it is real accurate as it is for reference only. I checked my every day driver for you which has a Optima red top and it read 11.8 volts on the DIC and checked with a accurate digital volt meter at the battery to be 12.1 volts. I will go on record that NO batt. will read 13.2 volts!!!

I agree, you need to check the voltage at the battery terminals with a good voltmeter.
I also see a lower reading on the DIC and just use that for reference. If you have at least 11.5 on the DIC, you should have at least 12 volts at the battery.
