I have tried to do A/C work on another car, I do everything on my cars, but I can't say I would do it again. Even at the enormous cost of having it done.
Make sure the freon detector is turned on,, mine beeps at about 110 db.
Then turn the key on and switch a/c on, start the car quickly to blow a/c air out of the only duct open,, If there is a leak in the evap plenum the leak detector will detect the leak. If there is no leak detected,, you can repeat the test. Then if you have a leak,, I would hire someone to change it. I have done many evaps, and pulling the entire dash on a c5 is no fun. You want someone who has pulled the dash before and has experience. You really don't want to learn for a one time event, Just not worth the trouble. best of luck,, 99 Nassau Blue.
