My in-dash lighter socket quit a while back (don't smoke), so I started using the in-consuole one for the V-1, cell phone etc. Then it quit a few months later.
According to head electrical guy at the shop, both are on the same circuit, but have separate fuses (under the passenger floorboard) and both fuses are still good.
They say this indicates a break in the wiring somewhere in the console area, probably a costly seek-and-destroy mission. Before I embark on this, has anyone out there had a similar problem and/or tips on where to look first.
I'll state the obivous: have you tried you charger/accessories in another vehicle? I've seen the springs get weak in those things and fail to make contact over time. Some also have fuses inside of them. I'd check that before tearing the console apart. You should test the outlets with a volt-meter to verify if they are getting power.
Good advice above. Let me add that I've had my console/IP trim off many times and you're just 5 minutes away from checking for breaks in the wire or disconnected connectors. It's not difficult at all.

Gracias.
Not a C5 but same problem. My wife’s Dodge Caravan has a plug in the dash and one in the cargo area. She went on a trip and when she got back she said the phone wouldn’t charge. I went and checked it and it wouldn’t work in front but would in back. I got my meter and had like 12 v in the back and about 3 in the front! I haven’t had a chance to really check and see what’s going on, maybe on a warm Saturday I will look.
My dash cig lighter went out and it ended up being a fuse. Check number 27 (not sure of the number, but it was a yellow 20 amp fuse) under the hood, not under the footwell. I had accidentally shorted the pigtail wire which is under the footwell. Apparently they are on the same circuit.

They checked all at the shop, but I'll look at #27 again.
The cell phone, tire pump and all work fine in my Explorer, so it's not devices. I'll ask the shop about the volt meter thing.
Thanks
If the car has never been apart then odds are it's a fuse (not very common for wire damage on a production car that hasn't been wrecked or modified. The stock wire guides do a fairly good job keeping wiring out of harms way.) Since you are in DFW I can help you troubleshoot it if you get stumped. I used to be 12v installer and have plenty of tools, certifications, and knowledge.
I agree with elite engineering. I had that happen three times. I let the dealer fix it once (won't do that again). The third time I took the console apart and used electrical tape to hold the clip in place. I haven't had a problem since.
