Ok, here is what's up. Went to start the Vette last weekend and not enough juice in the battery to get the job done. So, I went out and bought a Battery Tender, hooked it up and guess what, the battery is more dead now than when I hooked up the Battery Tender two days ago. What the heck is that all about? Anyway, Battery Tender will get exchanged tomorrow any other advice?

Thanks

Darion

I had a similar experience with the OEM battery where the post separated from the plate internally. GM warrantied it at the dealer (I was still w/in 3 yer/36,000).

It's possible you have a dead cell. The battery will never charge with that. If the battery tender's red light started up in the flashing mode when you first hooked it up, then the voltage was below 3V which the BT cannot ressurect the battery under. If that is the case, either you have a severely discharged battery or a dead cell.

One thing to try (per the BT's instructions) is to jump the battery over from a known good battery on the bench and then hook up the tender to the discharged battery with the jump still in effect. Once the red light stays on continuously, you can disconnect the good battery from the circuit. If the tender's red light is continuously on and not flashing, the charging process has started.

It will probably take a couple of days to charge sufficiently if this is the case. Once the green light is flashing, the battery is at least 80% charged and is serviceable. When the green light shines continuously, the battery has a full charge.

Patches,

Thanks for the reply. I should have put in my post that the red light is on when hooked up to the battery and not flashing, that is why I thought it was charging. Today I unhooked the charger and checked my connectionreal good when I hooked it back up. Once again, light is on and not flashing, I will check it in the morning and go from there.

Thanks again for the reply,

Darion
