Default Best Spark Plugs?

The C5 has alittle rocky idle so i figure i'll go ahead and change the plugs and wires and see if that's the cause. What NGK plug is everyone using?

I couldn't agree more.

with them you won't be forced to get new plug wires, but if you want to upgrade them anyways, you can't beat MSD Super 8.5mm wires for $60 shipped:

They're 7 dollars a plug where the NGK TR55's are 1.65 each. I think i'll stick with the NGk's.

I actually use the AC Delco Iridium 41-985 plugs.

I was just answering the post Question "What NGK plug is everyone using?"

That IS the plug all the NGK guys use, but they are NOT Iridiums, reason for the cost differential.

NGK does make that plug in Iridium also, I believe it's NGK TR-55ir

With your car runing a little rough you might want to try adding some Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner to your fuel. You might (very well will) get a pleasant suprise.

Check it out.

Glen,

Have you used the standard NGK's before you used the AC delco 41-985's? In your opinion.. Are the AC delco's worth the money? If so.. I'll try them out.

Are the Iridiums the "standard" plug...or an upgrade. In other words...what is the factory plug?

NGK TR55 as far as I know. I just changed them 500 mls ago. A lot of folks say don't go fancy because it does not make a difference.

Those of you that use the TR-55's, how often do you need to change them, mileage-wise?

i'd need to look it up to be 100% sure, but i think all the '04's came with them, and that they are the current "recommended" replacement plug for the LS-1.

not necessarily. The Bosch +4 are known to not like LS1's with stock wires or "next better" sized wires.

In-Other-Words the Bosch +4's can fool one into believing he has defective wires; when it's not the case.
They are very cold plugs to be using in the LS1; and they need as much voltage as they can get.

I'm pretty interested in trying out Brisk spark plugs, although the TR55's are proven performers. I'd avoid anything platinum. Platinum just doesn't make sense for use as a spark plug electrode...even if it doesn't wear or corrode, it will gunk up, and some of them actually fall apart. For exotic metals I'd only use iridiums (Denso or NGK) or silver (Brisk).

Pulled the Iridums, And the stock wires. The Bosch plus 4's and Jacob's wire's,Installed, Huge improvement. Iridums maybe ok indexed, otherwise
I'll take the plus 4's.Plenty of voltage, For sure.
