Im looking into buying a TREX cam for my C5 now ive read and heard that i need 4.10 gears for this cam. Is this true can i not run the cam with my stock gears? Would it be that much of a hastle just trying to decide if i want to spend the money on the cam and not on the nitrous. Thanks any imput is appreciated.
One of those, inherently, will be the loss of low end power and drivability This is why gears are suggested with big cams, it helps to keep the car drivable by keeping the rpm's up without needing to launch it like a dragster.
Monster cams like this hate low rpm's, and if you keep the stock gears, you will be stalling it many times leabing stoplight, etc...unless you
No question you will get better performance and driveabilty with 4.10 gears with such a a big cam. However if you want to run this cam with 3.42s until you can get 4.10s you should be alright. I don't know if I would go with such a big cam. But I would rather have a good cam rather than nitrous. With a cam the extra power is ALWAYS there no matter the amount of throttle you give your car. Nitrous is an effective power adder but it is not always there and it's only for WOT.
