is there a difference between the 2? supposedly they r the same part number, but a guy was telling me that there was different material used in the cast for the blocks, making the 97 less-reliable. anyone else hear this?

I have heard (so don't flame me) that they are in fact the same...up until the more HP LS1 motor came out when they changed a few things (Intake being one of them) to gain the extra ponies and torque. I own a 97 coupe- I have had no reliability issues with her...it is a great car, and a great motor.

Hope this helps...

yeah, i pretty much thought exactly what u thought, but there seems to be a disagreement on this local forum i'm on. so i figured if there was some sort of difference, someone on here wouldve heard about it. if anyone knows, then please post up. and at the same time, if u have evidence that they r the same, thatll work too.
