Default Random Technology Cats... Any Good??

Hey Guys.. I just got me the C6 a few months back. I've already install the Corsa exhaust and I still want to get a little more power. I was thinking about replacing my cats with Ramdom Technology brand. Does anyone out there have one on their C5. How is it in terms or Power Increase and Reliability. I've heard some stories that Hi Flow cats only last for a few months before it blows out and the power increase is only minimal. Is that true?? Reason I'm asking you guys at the C5 forum is because this no one at the C6 forum has one, and probably will not have them long enough to test its reliability. Any inputs would help me decide for the future. Thanks

I've had Random Teck Cats on my C5 for a long time and haven't had any problems.

I have them also & have no problems. I agree the power increase is small relative to cost. I would not put then on a new C6 if you are just trying add power. There are many other things to do with the money. I had bad cats & was installing headers, so i bought the whole system. I'd wait until after the warranty was up ot if you end up putting headers on. Little to gain on a stock motor & not that much on a moderatly modded motor. I'm sure others will chime in, but that's just my experience. Scott

Maybe you misunderstood his response. To replace factory cats with RT's, I don't think you would ever see that kind of increase. With headers and RT's yes.

Did you get the magic ones? Wish mine gave me that much at the motor. I bought mine from another forum member as a header xpipe cats package.

If you can get me 20-30 rwhp from only high flow cats, I will buy a set for you & will pay you to do both my car & yours.

With TPIS LT headers and Random Tech complete midsection I dyno'd at 338 max power and 347.1 max torq (with LS1 edit). This was before Chris bumped my timing a few more degrees to squeeze out a few more ponies. They've been on my car now for almost 2yrs and no complaints or problems. I did not get a base but we are guessing 310-315

I meant from headers and x-pipe with cats. Not just cats.
