Replaceing my brakes and rotors in a few weeks and going to flush the old fluid out and add motorcraft High performance DOT 3 brake fluid. Just wondering how much brake fluid a 2000 C5 will hold? can't seem to find this information anywhere. Thanks for your help in advance.
When you do a brake flush, you are not so concerned with the capacity of the system but rather how much you use in the flushing process. If you are conservative, 1 quart will do but I highly suggest having 2nd (or 3rd) quart on hand just in case. I would rather be safe than sorry and have to run out for more brake fluid in the middle of the job.

Thats what I was thinking, I just wanted to make sure I had enough fluid to do the job. Still curious as to the fluid capacity, Thanks, Dave

1 liter usually does it but keep another on hand.
I'm not sure of the fluid you mention but if is the Ford Heavy Duty you might want to consider getting something with a higher wet boiling point and a longer in car life.

thanks once again Richin Chicago, the ATE is DOT 4? And this will pose no problems? Thanks, Dave
Dave,
No problem at all, it mixes with all conventonal brake fluids. I would guess half of our club uses it.
I buy the blue one time and the amber the next so I have a pretty good visual clue when the old fluid is flushed. If you aren't road racing you can leave it in for at least 2 years.
I would not recommend using the motorcraft fluid. When people talk about the ford fluid they are not talking about the normal stuff you get at the dealer, it is some other hard to find type.
I put the motorcraft in without knowing this a while back and ended up with a sqeaky master cyl, every time I pushed in the brake. Switched to motul and it went away.
