Default Thud, thud, thud beneath floorboard

Hi guys,

Ever since I had my Spec III clutch installed, I've been getting a clanking/thud sound audible through the floorboard... I can also feel a simultaneous vibration/thud through the shifter. It's never been really bad, but recently it's been getting worse.

Some days the thud is worse than others. Some days it's merely audible, some days I can fill it on the floorboard and on the accelerator, and other days it's not there at all. Some days I can make the thud go away by depressing the clutch pedal, other days the problem exists no matter what I do.

What could it be? I can feel it at idle with car in neutral, and just recently I started feeling it while the car was in gear and moving. Seems to be more prevalent in lower gears than higher gears.

It all seems to be coming from the bell housing area where the clutch is. What is this likely to be? Somebody mentioned to me once that if the thud goes away by depressing the clutch pedal, it's probably the throwout bearing. Is this the same as the pilot bearing? I had that replaced when I had my Spec III installed (and never had the problem until then...)

Is this anything I should be worried about, or just fix it when I get my clutch replaced (which won't be long, I am putting 600+hp to the ground right now...)

A description like that would leave me to believe that its mechanical contact with the driveline and a chassis component. Common is the exhaust against the rear torque tube. The next though would be a motor mount has seperated and allowing some physical contact. The contact is sometimes the top of the torque tube where the shifter mounts and the tunnel. You can usually see extra vertical movement in the shifter itself when this happens.
If its been happening for some time you should be able to search for the contact marks.

Could be mother-in-law under car.
If this is the case, keep driving, it will go away on it's own.

Welcome to the wonderful world of clutch problems. I am having bad problems with my LUK. It was installed 16grams out of balance. Had it rebalanced but the engine is still out of balance. It appears I am one of the lucky ones who had weights on the flywheel which my installer didn't transfer.

I now have problems where it sounds like a garbage disposal at certain times, most often when going forward, stopping, and trying to put it in reverse. From what I have read, it sounds like I have a throwout bearing problem (which is different from the pilot bearing), or an driveline alignment problem.

I am about to order all the necessary parts and replace everything I can in the driveline to fix it.
