Default How long to run OBDII tests.

I am trying to pass CA smog and it failed due to not successfully running all OBDII checks. I had cleared the codes before going into the test because I was troubleshooting the fuel gauge problem. Does anybody know how much driving I have to do or how many on/off cycles you need to complete the tests? Thanks
George

I'm not sureclearing codes will void an OBDII test.
I believe it is when a battery has been disconnected. If I remember correctly it is 50 ignition cycles to reset all the ready flags.

I found this so I guess I'll try it:

The OBDII drive cycle begins with a cold start (coolant temperature below 122 degrees F and the coolant and air temperature sensors within 11 degrees of one another).

NOTE: The ignition key must not be on prior to the cold start otherwise the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run.

1. As soon as the engine starts, idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the A/C and rear defrost on. OBDII checks oxygen sensor heater circuits, air pump and EVAP purge.

2. Turn the A/C and rear defrost off, and accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle. OBDII checks for ignition misfire, fuel trim and canister purge.

3. Hold at a steady state speed of 55 mph for three minutes.

OBDII monitors EGR, air pump, O2 sensors and canister purge.

4. Decelerate (coast down) to 20 mph without braking or depressing the clutch. OBDII checks EGR and purge functions.

5. Accelerate back to 55 to 60 mph at ¾ throttle. OBDII checks misfire, fuel trim and purge again.

6. Hold at a steady speed of 55 to 60 mph for five minutes.

OBDII monitors catalytic converter efficiency, misfire, EGR, fuel trim, oxygen sensors and purge functions.

7. Decelerate (coast down) to a stop without braking. OBDII makes a final check of EGR and canister purge.

Default Obd

DO NOT clear codes, as this will erase any obd monitors that HAVE run, you will be starting from scratch! sorry to say, it takes a while for the monitors to run, there are six to seven moniters depending on the year, they allow all minus two monitors to run. The hardest ones I have noticed are the Catalyst and O2. The car must be dead cold to start the firts ones.

I drove that procedure and let it cool off to 90 degrees coolant. I went back to the smog station and two of the tests still had not run. EVAP and cold start O2. CA lets you slide by with two missing so I was able to pass. The sniffer was no problem.HC max 54 meas 1, CO max 0.5 meas .01, NO max 430 meas 0. This is with a Comp Cams XR265HR.
