Latch on Rear Compartment Broken

Latch on Rear Compartment Broken
The latch on the right rear storage compartment, a truly high tech piece of automotive engineering, broke. My local Chevy dealer is quoting $27 for the replacement part.
I'll probably contact Gene at Karshop to get the replacement item.
Has anyone had to replace one of these and is it hard to do? Does it just push through the cover and lock into place, is it held in place by a split washer, or what?
