Default 2000 Electrical malfuntion

MY 2000 seems to have developed a electrical gremlin today. The gauges all seem to be non-functional except for the voltage gauge. The driver read out is warning me about reduced engine power, low tire pressure, etc. The air bag idiot light, the brake indicator light stay on all the time. As a final straw, it would not start until I removed the #25 fuse and that must have reset something. It started, but immediately started giving me all the strange messages, lights, and gauge readings again.

Any ideas how to trouble shoot this?

I'll let the experts weigh in on this one but it sounds like a bad ground to me. Or maybe your battery is going bad.

I expect Bill Curlee to chime in here anytime and say "your BCM is getting wet because of a plugged A/C drain....... Now go dry it out" OR your battery has been leaking on the wires underneath it and is just now causing problems.

OK, this is a little like hitting Ctl, alt, delete but I just disconnected and reconnected the battery and the car seems to have reset itself. I am sure this is not the factory recommended repair procecure but it seems to have worked at least for now. Maybe a loose connection on the battery or something. Anyway, thanks for the thoughts guys!!

Actually I'd be suprised if you didn't actually have a problem. check all of your grounds that commonly corrode up and your pcm + wiring condition underneath the battery, also check your BCM for dampness.
