How are you guys running harnesses with Z06 Seat? With a Sport seat you can run them through the hole...there is no hole in the Z06 Seat. Are you just going around the seat? This seems like it would make the harnesses lose effectivness,
Is there anyone out there that has modded the Z06 seats to have the opening?
I need harnesses, but don't want race seats?
Any pics would be great!
Thanks,
Sam.
Depending on your shoulder width, having the harnesses go around the seats isn't a problem. If you feel they are slipping off your shoulders, you can get a sternum strap to keep them in place. FYI, you should definitely get a 6 point harness instead of a 5 point with stock seats. LAPD sells a Crow harness that works perfectly.
You have a couple of choices.
I'd recommend you contact VETTE ESSENTIALS, Ken King, on this forum.
I opted for his seat covers, and then had the "HOLE" in the back of the seat to run the harnesses ( I use Schroth) through, attached to the harness bar in back-which you will also need. I also bolstered and padded my seats much more than factory, and they are much more comfortable.
or
YOU can buy dedicated race seats, several sold on this forum..
My silver z06 w. photos is at http://www.ronalusa.com/cars/chevy_c5_z06_vette.html
Depends on your seat preference, comfort, and use of the car.
I have base seats (same as Z06) and run the strap over the seat. No issues but I do have pretty broad shoulders. I didn't want to switch to Sport seats as they are heavier and I'm too tall for most race seats.
FYI, you can convert any C5 seats, to accept a hole for the Harness belts, by getting the seat conversion kits, from

for the stock ZO6 seats the use of the "H" belt is recomended. The "H" is the chest strap and latch.
In case you have an emergancy FU with out the chest strap your torso might slip between the shoulder straps. With the chest strap that will not happen.
Seats with the holes in and the straps anchored at shoulder level, +/- 5 degrees are the ideal.
