Anyone running 87 or 89 octane???
The guy that bought my car wants to run low octane gas to save money. The car has edit and I told him he would have to have the car tuned in order to run that low octane stuff.
Can he run the low octane with no tune?
Will the car adjust to the low octane on its own?
What are the negatives and positives of running low octane?

Cajun, there were some earlier posts on this. I believe the thread was that yes, the cars would adjust to a somewhat lower octane, but they would quickly retard the timing if any detonation was detected. There goes your car's performance.

Wow, I feel sorry for the next owner who buys this vehicle. Great way to ruin a motor. What is this dude thinking? 93 Octane is only .10 cents more a gallon or an extra $2.00 per tank full. I think even a homeless person could afford that

It would be like buying a race horse and feeding it only hay...ya, it will run but not at what its capable of. I can never understand how a guy goes out and buys a $30-40 thousand car and wants to save money on gas, or a cheap battery or tires...the last 2 items fall under the category of "pride of ownership" but the first one is down right dangerous to the car's long term health.
