to start, my car is not stock. it has intake, headers, gears, etc...
For about 6 months it has been giving codes for the left and right O2 sensors. I researched and finally decided to swap out the OEMs with some Densos. Cleared all codes, and took her out. No problem for about 25-30 miles, then the codes came back. Now it is the same problem, drive for a few miles and the Check engine light comes on, i check the codes, and they are the sensors again?!
What gives? What else do I need to check? I feel i wasted my $$$ which incorrectly fixed a problem.
It takes a certain drive cycle to run the O2 diagnostics. I would venture to say that you probably have aftermarket catalysts, like Random Techs. And I'd also bet that your codes are Bank1 sensor 2 and Bank 2 Sensor 2. Common issue with aftermarket catalysts. Only way to fix them is use O2 sims or get the code turned off by your tuner. You could also put the factory cats back on but you probably would lose a little hp if you did.
the exhaust was already on when i purchase the car
yes, there are only the rear sensors
the cats are still stockers- i was planning on some random techs eventually
are simulators plug n play? there is not a programmer within a few hour area where i live, so it would be a road trip for something so mundane

Your car should have 4 sensors, 2 in front of the cats with 1 installed on each bank and then 2 behind the cats with 1 being installed on each bank.
The 2 front sensors work with the PCM to control your AFR and are mandatory, the 2 back sensors let the PCM know the cats are functioning properly.
so when you say:

Are you trying to say that you only have 2 sensors installed and they are behind the cats?
I've got the same problem code P0157, I've replaced both rear sensors, checked fuses, no vacuum or exhaust leaks. I have Random Tech cats and long tubes. I was wondering if O2 sims would cure this problem and are they pluig and play or do I need to go get re-tuned. Damn frustrating when you spend the money for O2's and it doesn't correct the problem. I can clear the code but it just comes back after about 10-15 miles of driving. Thanks guys for any help you can provide. BTW, I've had the LT's on for about 5000 miles with no problems.
ok both cars are having the same problem, your rear O2's are pissing bcuz of your cats or lack there of. you have 4 O2's (which you know by now). the 2 forward O2's are important since they control a/f mix at idle & cruise. the 2 rear O2's are mostly just there to check emissions and sort of double check the forward O2's (in a way). as for car #2 the performance cats are the problem, car #1 my guess is when whoever installed the headers they also guted the stock cats= problem. O2 sim's will fix both cars only cost about $100 bucks and are easy to install. i have been running sim's on mine for 3 years with no trouble at all.
