I heard some people say its harder than long tubes, some say that it takes 6 hours.
Honestly, this install took me less than 2 hours, zero headache, not even a moment when I wasnt assembling or disassembling, completely went as smooth as glass. If people assume that is difficult, you guys should work on a mustangs headers!
Thought I was share, I Was a little intimidated at first.
As for after the install, the car is considerably louder revving (with stock exhaust) much quicker throttle response, and I notice the biggest difference down low at the bottom to mid section of gears.

LOL I hear yah man. I have a '91 LX that I run and when I heard about how people said it was hard to install the Vararam I thought the same thing. With the awesome link that was provided for me it went VERY smooth. Now putting equal length headers on a fox body.......that sucks!! Hell the old MAC long tubes suck just as much. The ones where the stearing column goes through them. Not to fun!
Now if you WANT to make the job challenging you can take the fog lights out by the adjustment screws and then try to get them back with with the horribly aligned vararam shrouds. Believe me.. that will make the install seem very difficult.. until you figure out the fog light has a bracket that comes down.
This may be a dumb question but are there versions of the Vararam for the coupe (foglights) and the Z06 (no foglights) or do Z06 people just live with the holes cut out for the fogs? Or maybe there are punch-outs for the fogs.
I would rather install another set of headers than to install another Vararam.
But you would have to fight me just as hard to make me part with either
You have an open invitation to sunny S. Ca. to help me with headers on my 1970 T/A. The 471 is coming out and the original RAIII is going back in. Take a good look at a D-port Pontiac in an early f-body. VARARAM will be looking pretty tasty at the end of the day.
I am no mechanic so take this with a grain of salt. It took my cousin and I at least 6 hours to install the vararam. I am sure some people are more adept at this type thing but for me it was difficult. But I would not trade it for any other CAI.
I installed my Vararam two weeks ago. It took me maybe 4 hours from start to finish. I was dreading it because all of the guys on the forum were saying how hard it was. I thought it went very smooth the only thing I had to do different was to cut down my smooth coupler a half an inch so I could slide the upper part of the vararam to have easy access to the filter. I do work on Jeeps and car alot so maybe there is a learning curve.
