Default Cold Air Question?

I have made a few mods such as Corsa exhaust and blackwing intake with an new air bridge on my 03 coupe. I now think I need to get more, cooler, air into the intake compartment. Has anyone just opened up the ports at the fog lamps to let cold outside air into the intake area rather than cutting the radiator shroud as I have seen suggested on the forum? It seems to me that the front ports would be an easier way to go without cutting up the car so much. I also think that when the car is moving, air would flow in more freely and with some force from directly in front rather than from under the car. Any opinions?

Yes, many have done this, and in fact the Z06 has this situation by default.

I can't make any comments as to what you'll actually gain because I have a different setup, but what you suggest has been done often.

Yes, I did it. I don't have data to support any performance improvements, but the engine compartment sure gets dirty.
